6 Web Apps to Instantly Capture, Share, Display and Meet
More and More new web apps enable us to do things that once required installation, registration, expertise and, of course, payments. The following tools will allow you to instantly video capture your screen, Share files, create a chat room, photo album, web meeting environment, or a MindMap – all within a few mouse clicks.
Instant video capture – ScreenCastle
ScreenCastle is a Video screen capture tool that works directly from your browser. To start recording your screen (and microphone) just enter the site, click the start button, choose the region to capture and press “start recording”. Once done, you will be given a link to view the video or a code to embed it into a website.

Instant file sharing – File2.ws
File2.ws (File to Website) Convert any file into a public website. Simply choose and upload a file and within a few seconds (depends on its size) you’ll get a link to a webpage that display the file. This includes pictures, multi sheets Excel workbooks or an MS Word document with several pages. You can send the link to share the webpage and allow others to download the original file.

Instant chat – Tinychat
Tinychat lets you create a private chatroom and invite others by sending them a link. That way you can chat with people that don’t have the instant messaging software you use. You can also use it for multi participants and anonymous chat.

Instant photo albums – MyLiveGallery
MyLiveGallery enables you to create a 10 pictures photo albums and slideshows you can share. To create a new gallery, just specify the name, upload your pictures, and select a theme. (Limitations – Pictures should be in JPG format; Max width/height – 1600×1200; Max picture size – 512kb each.)

Instant web meeting – ShowDocument
ShowDocument lets you launch a web meeting with one or more people. The meeting revolves around a document, Google map, video, website or plain whiteboard, one of which you choose beforehand. All the participants see the same virtual environment, led by the presenter. At the end of the session you can save the results (drawing using various tools) as a PDF file.

Instant mind mapping – Text2Mindmap
Text2Mindmap do not even require a single mouse click to create a MindMap. As you enter the site, insert the nodes of your MindMap into the left side text box and click “convert to MindMap“. You will instantly get a visual representation of the text as a MindMap.

The ease of use of these web apps is also their disadvantage. When using them, consider the following security rules:
- Always assume that someone else (that you did not invite) is also watching.
- Do not upload information that you see as private or confidential for you or others.
- Bring into account that you might not be able to delete what you have created.

Tinychat looks kind of cool. Many in this day and age prefer microblogging, Facebook, and the like. I still prefer good “old-fashioned” instant messaging and email to communicate.
